RESIDENTS vowed to make skhothanes pay if they continued to pour custard all over themselves.

About 60 youths in Bergman and Pieter Swartz, Mangaung, caused a traffic jam on Tuesday.

They went wild and poured custard all over each other, saying they wanted to see who the best skhothane was.

The youths, aged between 13 and 17, allegedly started by pouring booze over each other.

Resident Maria Sempe (57) said the skothanes needed to be taught a lesson.

“They don’t know how difficult it is to get money.

“When they get money, they spend it on stupid things,” said Maria.

Themba Plaatjies (35), another resident, said young people were spoilt and government was protecting them.

“I want to sjambok the hell out of them because they act as if they’re possessed.

“Some of them don’t have food in their houses, but decide to play with custard,” said Themba.

One skhothane said: “Soon we are going to have a bash where we pour different kinds of liquid all over ourselves.

“Our parents had their way of having fun and we have ours. This is not a crime, but a way to see who the best skhothane is.”
