That’s the view of Precious Thugwana (34), from KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga, who blames police for the death of her husband, ex-cop Koos Thugwana (36).
She said a week before Koos’ murder, they asked police for the order but were chased away.
Two suspects are in custody. “They took my husband to a tavern where they started to beat him up. He was beaten to a pulp until he lost consciousness,” she said, alleging that the men tied up her husband’s legs and arms and threw him into the back of a bakkie.
She said: “They drove to a farm when they realised he was dead. They cut off his left leg and arm before setting his body alight with a tyre.
“We only managed to find him after the younger brother confessed to the cops. As we speak, my 14-year-old boy is lying in hospital after learning of his father’s death.”
Police spokesman Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said two brothers have been arrested and charged with murder. They appeared in the KwaMhlanga Magistrates Court last Thursday. The case was postponed to 1 December for a bail application.
