SHE is the dead woman no one wants.

Keneilwe Koma (29) has been in the mortuary for nine months.

She died in hospital in Thabazimbi, Limpopo, on 5 February.

But her corpse lies rotting in a coffin.

The dead woman has not been buried because her boyfriend refused to pay the undertaker.

He allegedly told him: “You can have that woman. She is yours. I don’t want her.”

Johannes Ratshosa, a representative of Gareboe Funeral Parlour, said a nurse from the hospital asked them to help the boyfriend.

He said the boyfriend agreed to pay for storage and transportation of the body to Lesotho.

Johannes said: “I had to pay R850 to another funeral parlour that kept the body.

“Then the boyfriend brought a funeral parlour from Lesotho to collect the body. I asked for my R850 and R500 removal fee, but he refused to pay.

“When he disowned the body, I offered a free coffin and burial, but he chased me with a spear.”

Johannes has since obtained a protection order against the man.

He had to move elsewhere, leaving the building with only the coffin and rotting corpse inside.

The two men have been to court several times. The boyfriend was ordered to pay R7 150 but had not.

The court refused to grant Johannes a burial order without papers, warning him of a jail term if he did.

Daily Sun contacted the department of international relations and co-operation, which referred us to the High Commission of Lesotho and Home Affairs.

Emails to the commission yielded no response, while Home Affairs spokesman Thabo Mokgola said it wasn’t the department’s problem.

Daily Sun was not able to get hold of the boyfriend.
