A Grade 12 pupil who drove into a group of pupils with his father's Nissan bakkie, Killing Koketso Rahlane (14) over a week ago has been arrested together with his father.

Eight other pupils were left with serious injuries.

The 18-year-old pupil who is a President of Learners Representative Council (LRC) at Mohlatlego Machaba Secondary School in Ga-Motupa village is facing charges of culpable homicide, driving an unroadworthy vehicle and driving without a valid driver’s licence.

Meanwhile, his 54-year-old father who is the owner of the bakkie is facing a charge of permitting a person to drive a car while knowing that he does not possess a valid driver’s license.

Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe the spokesman for Limpopo Police said: "Both the son and his father will be appearing before the Bolobedu Magistrate Court this morning.”

“After they were arrested yesterday in the afternoon. Our investigations on this matter are still continuing," He said.

Seven pupils who survived the deadly crash were discharged from the hospital and are still recovering from serious injuries at home, while one schoolgirl is still at Medi-Clinic receiving medical attention.

A grade 8 pupil Koketso Rahlane (14) who was certified dead on his arrival at the hospital, had suffered internal injuries and he will be buried this weekend at his home village in Ga-Motupa.

He had just finished writing a Geography exam around 11am hanging around with his friends when the incident happened.
