THE body of a missing 12-year-old girl has been found.

Yolanda Ngcobo from Umshwathi was washed away during heavy rain.

Her body was found by residents on Tuesday afternoon.

Six people were reported missing after heavy rain that started in the area on Sunday night.

Three family members from Inanda were also washed away.

The bodies of the father and son were found, while the mother is still missing.

In Verulam, two men were washed away by the rain. One was found dead, while the other one was found alive on Monday afternoon.

Several residents were left stranded as their homes were flooded.

Various sections in KwaMashu, Inanda, Verulam and Isipingo were affected.

In Amaoti, several residents had to be placed in the community hall after their shacks were washed away.

They are receiving help from co-operative governance department. They were given food, blankets and sponge mattresses.

Buyiswa Cele (50) said her two- roomed house was flooded.

“The food we received will make a difference. I’m grateful because most of my food was washed away.”

Senzelo Mzila, a spokesman for the departement, confirmed that the missing child was found, while the mum from Inanda was still missing.
