SIMON Mahlangu will spend four years behind bars after being found guilty of 124 counts of fraud.
The 25-year-old was sentenced in the Evander Regional Court in Mpumalanga on Friday.
The court heard that the accused used skimming devices to scam unsuspecting motorists of thousands of rands at the Trichardt Toll Plaza.
Mpumalanga Hawks spokeswoman Captain Dineo Sekgotodi told Daily Sun Mahlangu skimmed bank cards of passing motorists when they made payments at the toll gate.
Mahlangu was working as a toll operator when he committed the crimes.
Sekgotodi said Mahlangu was arrested at his workplace late last year during a sting operation.
He was found with a skimming device.
The court sentenced him to 19 years in prison, which will run concurrently.
