PRAYERS, dancing, singing and tears were the order of the day after news broke that Prophet Shepherd Bushiri had received bail yesterday.
Some Enlightened Christian Gathering Church members said it was the work of God.
They had gathered outside the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Tshwane.
Tears flowed as supporters gathered, Bushiri’s portraits held high. Some lifted their hands to the sky, while others kneeled on the ground and prayed.
When the bright sun appeared through the clouds, some said it was a sign the angels had come to confirm Bushiri would be released.
Bushiri and his wife were making their second court appearance for a bail application after they were arrested by the Hawks on Friday.
They have been charged with money laundering, fraud and contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
In court, the couple argued they had no previous convictions or pending arrest warrants, and were not a flight risk as their South African IDs and passports were seized by the Hawks. The state did not oppose their bail application.
Magistrate Martin van Wyk granted them bail of R100 000 each. They will appear in court again on 10 May.
Prophet Paseka Motsoeneng was one of the people who escorted Bushiri out of court.
Mboro said he had come to support his brother in Christ because he was being attacked.
