EVERY night when the village is dark and quiet, the dogs begin to howl.

Then there’s a racket on the roof. It sounds like a rumble of thunder.

But it’s not thunder, it’s a huge baboon!

Mamayila Baloyi (58) sees the creature at night when she looks out through the window of her bedroom.

Mamayila, from Josefa Village outside Malamulele, Limpopo, told Daily Sun: “Always when the noise begins I see a huge hairy black baboon with a big jaw. The horrifying creature runs around on top of the roof.

“It keeps coming back every now and then in the middle of the night.”

Mamayila said the baboon has been coming to her home since the beginning of this year.

“The first time it came, I thought it was a dream.

“But when it returned for the second time, I knew that it was for real.”

Mamayila said she believes that the baboon has cast an evil spell on her.

“My husband has left me and my kids without any reason. And sometimes when I get odd jobs they don’t last.”

She said she needs help before she is killed by the baboon.

“I appeal to anyone, a prophet or inyanga, to help me get rid of this baboon,” she said.

Her 27-year-old neighbour said: “Every day, the same baboon visits my house at night.

“When it comes, it plays on top of my roof and when it leaves, it kicks my door and disappears into the darkness.

“I believe there’s a need for spiritual intervention here.”
