Amir Buzad (45) from Bonteheuwel said the issue of gang violence in their area needed to be taken
seriously.
“We don’t have a choice but to protest,” said Amir.

Nomthandazo Mani (40) from Langa said the thugs often targeted them when they went to the clinic in Bonteheuwel.
“People are gatvol. That’s why they are protesting,” she said.
Police spokeswoman Brigadier Novela Potelwa said eight people were arrested in Bonteheuwel for public violence.
“This followed a clash with police which led to the disruption of traffic,” she said.
“Stun grenades and rubber bullets were fired in an effort to restore calm.
“We will continue monitoring the situation.
“We urge protesters to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.”
