ABUTI Chiloane’s brother, Jan Chiloane, has slammed those who say he was involved in his brother’s death.

The 52-year-old was speaking during the funeral service of the 54-year-old chief, attended by Bushbuckridge mayor Sylvia Nxumalo, EFF and ANC followers led by ANC regional secretary Folus Sibuyi, as well as Moletele Communal Property chairman Mapex Molobela.

Speaking to hundreds of mourners on Saturday, the chief’s brother suddenly lost his temper.

“I was the first to reach the scene of my brother’s accident, but there are rumours I am the one who killed my brother for the chief’s position,” he said.

“This is absolute nonsense as people are trying to divide my family.”

He said the chieftainship caused problems, so he did not want any part of it.

“Put us in your prayers, so our royal family will take the right direction about it,” Jan said.

Abuti’s daughter, Natasha, said: “Daddy, I did not know I was seeing you for the last time. When you told me in December you would be flying high, I cried and you comforted me with sweets.

“You were a giving and ever smiling dad and I will remember you always.”

Chief Seshego Sekororo said his cousin Abuti and four others were involved in an accident when they ran over a donkey along the R36 in Bismarck outside Sekororo in Limpopo last Saturday.

Abuti died along with two others.

Sekororo said: “I had to run to Sekororo Hospital as officials refused the injured access.”

Congress of Traditional Leaders of SA president Lameck Mokoena said: “We are saddened that Mpumalanga’s co-operative governance department failed to pay even a cent towards the funeral.”
