THE ANC in KZN is planning a big heroes welcome bash for former president Jacob Zuma.
This was announced by the party’s provincial interim committee co-ordinator, Sihle Zikalala, in Durban yesterday.
Zikalala said the structures in the province felt that the organisation should organise a rally to welcome Zuma back, and celebrate 60 years of his revolutionary service to the people of the country.
“Our structures look forward to welcoming Zuma.
“We call upon people from all sectors of our society to join us as we thank this son of the soil,” said Zikalala.
“As the ANC in the province, we will be richer with his wisdom and experience.”
He said they would always seek Zuma’s guidance and that the provincial leadership would use him to campaign for future elections because the party grew in the province because of his leadership.
Zikalala praised Zuma for respecting the ANC’s decision for him to step down.
“Zuma proved that he is disciplined, dedicated and committed revolutionary who always put the organisation’s interests first,” said Zikalala.
He praised Zuma for bringing free education, for increasing life expectancy by providing ARVs and for his radical economic transformation programmes.
Nkandla Councillor Bongokwakhe Mbambo said they were looking forward to welcoming Zuma back to the area.
