DA LEADER Mmusi Maimane has criticised the ANC for the load shedding crisis.
Maimane addressed the media at the party’s headquarters in Bruma, Joburg, yesterday.
He was accompanied by DA shadow minister of public enterprises Natasha Mazzone and national spokesman Solly Malatsi.
Maimane said: “It is clear that there is no plan to fix this mess at all levels of national government.”
He said the ANC and Eskom had no strategy to keep lights on.
“There’s no plan that exists at Eskom and no political will to take immediate action to get our country out of this ANC-created crisis.”
He said the DA’s parliamentary plan of action was aimed at curbing the possible threat of Eskom closing down.
Maimane outlined several plans to solve the crisis, which include the installation of smart metres for municipalities, getting additional independent power providers and privatisation of Eskom’s entities.
He said the DA planned to lead a march to the Union Buildings in an attempt to put pressure on President Cyril Ramaphosa. “We will launch a national day of action on Friday and call on all South Africans to join us,” he said.
