A 16-year-old boy from Lesotho, believed to be on a school outing, has died after he was decapitated in full view of his fellow pupils today, KZN emergency services spokesman Robert McKenzie said.

McKenzie said the bus carrying schoolkids was travelling down a narrow road, Dick King, off Anton Lembede Street in the Durban CBD when the accident happened.

“It is believed that the boy’s head was out of the window and the driver drove past a street pole on the side of the road," he explained.

"One of the other pupils on the bus had to be taken to hospital for trauma treatment."
