PROMOTER Prosper Mkwaiwa is laid to rest today.
And his death is even more dramatic than his eventful life.
Sunday Sun can reveal that the promoter’s mum and her kids have vowed not to recognise Tina Jaxa as the chief mourner.
They say musician Tina Mkwaiwa (Dlangwana), Prosper’s traditional wife, is their only true daughter-in-law.
Sunday Sun understands that Prosper’s estranged legal wife, Tina Jaxa, was in floods of tears on Monday, after she was told she was not part of the family. This despite showing a marriage certificate to prove that she was still Prosper’s wife.
Insiders said that a sobbing Jaxa left Prosper’s house and only surfaced on Friday during a memorial service that was held at Die Draai park in Bronkhorstspruit.
The People’s Paper can report that Jaxa arrived at the memorial service three hours late. We understand that during her absence, she was in Joburg filming for TV.
And Jaxa sat for less than 10 minutes before whisking her kids away from the service. She spent the rest of the service outside the venue with her children.
When she was approached for comment last week, Jaxa flatly refused to say anything to the SunTeam.
Later she was spotted walking up and down outside Prosper’s house, where Dlangwana lives.
At the house on Friday night, both Prosper’s bereaved women were not sitting on the mourning mattresses.
Dlangwana, who lived a controversial life with Prosper, was allegedly sitting outside with friends including Mshoza and Amstel Makwane of 3Sum.
Jaxa was walking back and forth, and never spoke to the other Tina.
Prosper’s mum, Alfreda Mkwaiwa, said: “My son’s wife is Tina Dlangwana not Jaxa. Jaxa hasn’t lived with him for years. We only know that Dlangwana was the one who has been supportive, through thick and thin.”
Dlangwana said she didn’t care what Jaxa was doing: “I’m not concerned about petty issues. I’m mourning the death of my husband. We had differences, but he lived with me. Prosper’s family knows me as umakoti.”
Sunday Sun has learnt that Prosper’s friends donated money to pay his mum’s airfare from Zimbabwe to the funeral.
