Zoleka Mandela has revealed in a series of Instagram posts that she is having a difficult time coming to terms with her grandmother’s passing.
Although the mourning period for her family is over, Zinzi says the feeling of loss has not gotten any better for them.
“How can anyone say how long you get over grief? I don't think I ever will,” she wrote in lengthy heartfelt post on social media.
“I always knew that this loss would completely destroy me, I feel like I don't even recognize myself anymore.
“Nothing will ever be the same without the one I loved more than I loved myself,” she said.
With her grandmother being the mother of the nation, her death left the whole nation in mourning, but the 38 year old says it does not help that everyone is now "pretending to have been the closest person" to her grandmother.
“Where were they when you were suffering in silence and pretending to be okay, when you actually needed their company and not another request from them to take more pictures with you that they are now posting on social media to advance their own interests?,” she asked.
In a separate post, Zoleka shared a slideshow of the memories she made with her grandmother in her last days.
She also expressed regret at not being there when her grandmother drew her last breath.
“Why did you wait until I left the hospital to go home and change, for you to take your last dying breath without me?,” she wrote.
