Eastern Cape born musician, producer and songwriter Wandile Mbambeni is one of Mzansi’s top breakthrough artists and his latest offering holds the answers as to why that is.

The talented 25 year-old singer released his debut album titled Kwakumnandi almost two months ago and it received rave reviews from industry professionals.

The album was inspired by the good old days.

“I was sitting in my studio apartment and homesickness struck,” Wandile said, “I was missing being under one roof with the whole family.

“We went through a divorce and it was never the same, but instead of reflecting on the bad past, I chose to reflect on the times that was absolutely nice and lovely to me.”

The lead single with the same title is the perfect song to introduce fans to the album, and it showcases the star’s impressive vocals and emotional delivery.

Wandile worked with the likes of Shekinah, Bongeziwe Mabandla and LusNumber on the project.

His past three projects, Homegrown, Good Intentions and Maturation gave him the perfect platform leading into the album.

His evolution in terms of sound has been seamless, and that is because it has happened gradually.

“All three of my previous EP’s are different and with Kwakumnandi I tried to incorporate all the sounds that make uWandile.”

Wandile said he also took inspiration from artists such as D'Angelo and Erykah Badu when he was putting together the 13 track album.
