MUSICIAN Jabulani Hadebe, better known as Sjava performed last night at the Jack Daniels event in Sandhurst and during his performance, he shared how when he arrived in Jozi he didn’t have a place to stay and had to move around being kicked out of every place he occupied.
“When I came to Joburg I didn’t have any friends and I was really struggling to find my feet. I got kicked out of every room I rented, because I couldn’t afford to pay rent and nobody was there for me besides my mother,” he said while paying tribute to his mother.
The Umama hit maker shared how when times were dark his mother worked tirelessly to make sure that he didn’t sleep on the streets.
“She is my everything and everything I do is for her, because without I wouldn’t be where I am. I’m truly grateful to her for the sacrifices she made for me. I know it wasn’t easy for her, but she pulled through for me,” an emotional Sjava told the audience.
