OMPHILE Mmekwane received a BTEC diploma yesterday.

But if it wasn’t for DJ Fresh, the 27-year-old might not have graduated from the Tshwane University of Technology in Soshanguve.

Omphile approached Fresh last month through the Fresh Morning Show on Metro FM, saying he couldn’t graduate because he had R13 000 in study debt.

After listening to his voice note, half the Metro FM team broke down in tears when a gospel song by Omphile was played on air.

Fresh said he knew 12 people who would pop up

R1 000 immediately and he came through!

Fresh and his friends made contributions and paid off Omphile’s outstanding fees.

The young man told the SunTeam he didn’t have the words to thank everyone who helped.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I will never forget what Fresh did for me. I’m so grateful.”
