MZANSI is mourning the passing of award-winning actress Shoki Mokgapa.

The 34-year-old TV and theatre actress was best known for her role as Disebo on Ashes To Ashes.

Details surrounding her death are still unknown.

Last year, Shoki won a Safta for best actress in a feature film for the film Sink.

She was signed to Joburg-based talent agency Moonyeenn Lee Associates.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Nashoda Billy, Shoki’s agent, said: “We’re gutted and shocked.”

Isidingo tweeted: “We’re saddened to hear of the passing of award-winning actress Shoki Mokgapa. May your soul rest in eternal peace.”

Shoki graduated with a bachelor’s degree in live performance and made her debut on screen in 2007 on the British drama Wild at Heart.

This was followed by the American version Life is Wild in the same year.

Some of her work includes the award-winning SABC1 show Intersexions, the film Long Walk to Freedom and The Lab.
