Budding actor, Sphamandla Dhludhlu has called news that he stabbed his friend in the face while under the influence of booze, an “exaggeration”.

The iKhaya actor reportedly spent a night behind bars because of a fight he had with his friend over a woman.

The Sunday World has reported that on a jolly Sunday night at Cubana in Cedar Square, Fourways in Joburg, Spha was involved in a fight with two persons, one of which was his friend, Lusaso "Saso" Sokhela.

The night ended with Spha in jail after Saso opened a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against him.

Saso told the publication that Spha slashed him in the mouth with a broken beer bottle, injuring him inside and outside the mouth.

He also told the tabloid that he later withdrew the case because he was told that Spha stabbed him by mistake while fighting with another patron.

However, according to the Sunday World, this contradicts his police statement.

The statement shows that the two got into a brawl in the parking lot of Cedar Square over a woman who is allegedly dating Spha.

It is alleged that Spha had gone off the rails, fueled by alcohol, because he had seen Saso talking to his girlfriend the previous day.

A third victim has contradicted both versions of the story though, telling the publication that the fight happened inside Cubana and was over a R15 000 bill that Spha refused to contribute to.

“He [Saso] asked Spha why he always drinks his alcohol and leaves without helping him pick up the tab. If he says the incident happened at the parking where he was stabbed, he is lying because it started inside Cubana after an argument over a bill,” the informant told the publication.

The former Generations: The Legacy actor has now come out to refute the entire story, calling it an exaggeration.

“Wow I wish this was pragmatic objectively separate truth from lies or mistakes, sad they devoted on non-fact-checking my synopsis of this article its exaggeration,” he said.
