Media personality, Somizi Mhlongo has come to the defense of his fiancé, Mohale Motaung.
Mohale, who has in the past openly spoken about doing his dream work as an accountant, was recently cast on season 2 of MTV Shuga: Down South.
News of his casting broke at the beginning of the month and have been met with mixed reactions from the public.
While most people have shown Mohale a lot of support, there are, of course, some haters.
On the night of the official launch of the season, Mohale’s boo, Somizi took to Instagram to show his support for the love of his life.
“Off to the premier of the 2nd season of mtv SHUGA staring my bae Mohale, so proud of him right now for going for what he loves apologetically and bold. His first role. Here’s to a great future as an actor,” Somizi said.
SomGaga’s comment section quickly became a minefield with fans and haters alike sharing their views.
Among them, was one user who felt cheated out of an opportunity to be on the show because, according to him, people like Mohale were simply handed the role.
“Bull! You got him that job and the rest of us that actually auditioned got sidelined,” he said.
Somizi was obviously not here for any of it and clapped back real quick.
“No love, that’s how life in general operates,” he said.
Mohale has himself distanced himself from the negativity, and is instead focusing on his new life.
“MTV Shuga has proven to be a powerful catalyst for informing and positively affecting the lives of young people across the continent and I am thrilled by the opportunity for dialogue that this role presents. While same-sex marriage is legal in South Africa, so many people are still shunned by those closest to them for being open about their sexuality,” he said in a recently media statement.
