Radio presenter and TV actor Skhumbuzo Mbatha has dumped Thobela FM.

He will be leaving the Limpopo-based station to re-join Capricorn FM, which he left in 2009.

When asked why he was heading back to the station, Mbatha said he understood its vision for the future.

“I left Thobela FM because I think I have run my race and it’s time to explore new opportunities,” he said.

Capricorn FM yesterday announced it was proud to reconnect with listeners and win back those who had switched stations.

Mbatha, who currently hosts the afternoon drive slot on Thobela FM, will be moving to a prime time slot on Capricorn from the first of next month.

Station manager Rofhiwa “Tholi B” Bologo said: “We are so pleased to have on board a broadcaster who understands the roots of the station and has massive faith in the direction the brand is moving in.

“We are delighted and cannot wait to have listeners interact with him both on and off the air.”

Mbatha, who won the MTN Radio Award in 2015 in the “Best Afternoon Drive Presenter” category, has interacted with many entertainment industry heavyweights over the years.

With five new presenters joining, the station aims to bring a fresh new line-up to cater to all types of listeners.

The full line-up will be announced on the 26th of this month.
