IT WAS supposed to be a joyous music celebration.

But it turned into a shambles when the angry audience were told the key performer had not pitched up as was advertised.

BET’s Viewers’ Choice Best International Act Award winner Sjava disappointed his fans after a no-show at the Moretele Tribute Concert in Mamelodi, Tshwane on Saturday. It didn’t help that Amanda Black and Sun EL Musician didn’t appear either.

Earlier in the evening a power failure had already upset the audience.

Fans spent the entire night waiting for the star and became angry when they saw it was early morning without any sign of the artist.

There was a lot of booing after it was announced that a local jazz group was the final act for the night. Fans said they were going nowhere until they saw Sjava.

Owner of Drakensberg Promotions Sam Mhangwani said Amanda was at the event but left at 11.20pm.

“I don’t know whether she was rushing to another gig or not,” said Sam.

He said Sun EL told him he wanted to perform at a specific time.

“I don’t understand why musicians make double bookings,” he said.

Sam said he did not know why Sjava did not arrive, because he had been fully paid.

Sjava told Daily Sun it was unfortunate that he let his fans down.

“I don’t decide where to perform. There are people who do that for me,” he said.

He said he could not disclose where he was performing on Saturday.
