SOCIAL media users tore into radio and TV presenter Scoop Makhathi last week when a tweet, in which he was lambasting his woman Akhona for allegedly cheating on him Surfaced.

In his defence, he claimed his account was hacked.

But last night, during his YFM radio show with Bontle Modiselle, the star explained what apparently happened.

"It  was my birthday, so I was receiving a lot of calls from friends, but I decided to ignore them, because I'm not a person who likes birthday wishes. My phone was lying around and I wasn't using it, because there wasn't Wi-Fi in the recording studio I was in with friend Ayanda," he said.

He said one of his friends from Barcelona called him incessantly and when he picked up, his friend reprimanded him for using Twitter to denigrate Akhona, but he didn't know what was happening.

Said Scoop: "I immediately went on Twitter to check out what was happening and that's when I realised my account was hacked". As a result of the apparent hacking of his account, he said he lost out on an international contract that he was going to sign.

"They called me to let me know that they can't proceed with  doing business with me, because of what was happening on my social media, so they cancelled the contract," he claimed.

He said while all this drama was unfolding Akhona was in Queenstown and that the guy she was photographed with, is her childhood friend. Scoop also claimed that he and Akhona are on good terms despite the fracas that had social media users' tongues wagging.
