CRISELDA Dudumashe says nothing will stop her from helping people!
The television and radio personality said although she was recently
the victim of a vicious cellphone scam, she refuses to become a victim.
Criselda told Daily Sun last Friday she received a
call from someone she had done business with telling her a politician had asked
for her number.
“I gave my number and the person who later phoned seemed to know
me.”
Criselda was told a child called Thando Mncube needed money to
travel to university in the Eastern Cape. She called the alleged student, who
told her she was stranded. “Given the challenges women face, I decided to help.”
Criselda sent an undisclosed amount of money to the person by
eWallet but realised she’d been scammed when she phoned the alleged student two
hours later and was told she was stupid.
She said she decided it was pointless to open a case.
Criselda told the SunTeam she was very sad a woman had scammed her.
“Many kids need help, especially when it comes to funding for tertiary
education.
“But I will not allow this to stop me from doing good. This
happened, so I must warn others to be careful of scams like these.”
She appealed to people thinking of becoming con artists to rather
find a job and help others.
Captain Kay Makhubele said: “We cannot force people to open a case
but a victim of crime should do so.”
