South African broadcaster, Relebogile Mabotja has been announced as the official musical director for SABC 1’s new reality show, The Remix SA.

The local version of the show has been doing its rounds across the country looking for the next big DJ, singer and musician.

On the show, viewers will get to see 10 groups, each made up of a trio of a strong vocalist, a DJ or producer and a third musical member like an instrumentalist who will each compete head to head every week until only one group is left standing.

As the musical director, Relebogile will get to guide the groups towards becoming stage-worthy performers.

The show has already completed the production process and will air as of this Sunday, 22 July at 6pm.

“I had so much fun working on The Remix SA. South Africa truly has so much talent! A lot of work went into the performances and I can’t wait for the country to see what materialised on set. It’s such a privilege to work on music productions and play an intricate role to the musical aspects of the show,” said Relebogile Mabotja.

Relebogile is no stranger to the musical director’s chair, she plays the same role on the popular SABC 2 TV show, Afro Café.

The show will be hosted by rapper, Rouge and Mzansi Insider presenter, Kgaugelo ‘KC’ Mokholwane.

But before the show officially premiers on Sunday, fans will get to see exclusive behind-the-scenes action this Friday, 20 July on The Remix Unplugged at 6pm.

Mo Flava and Kelly Khumalo will serve as the resident judges on the show, giving the various remixes produced by each group their expert critique as well as eliminating the worst performance of the night.

Catch The Remix Unplugged and The Remix SA every Friday and Sunday respectively, on SABC 1 at 6pm.
