Today marks the 5-year anniversary of Reeva Steenkamp’s death.
The model and tv personality was shot and killed by her boyfriend, Olympic runner, Oscar Pistorious.
On the 14th of February 2013, South Africa and the world woke up to the news of Reeva’s death.
This was followed by a 2-year murder trial which saw Oscar go to jail for murder.
Reeva was born in Cape Town and later moved to Port Elizabeth (PE).
She obtained her law degree in 2005 from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in PE.
She had dreams of becoming a legal advocate.
Reeva’s modeling career began when she was 14.
After winning numerous titles there, she went on to be a cover girl on FHM and the brand ambassador for Avon cosmetics.
She loved horse riding and as she put it, she was an “Instagram Fanatic”.
South Africans took to social media today to pay homage to Reeva.
