LEGENDARY maskandi star Phuzekhemisi had his ancestors to thank after he escaped death on Sunday.

He was shot in the head by two people known to him, but the bullet only grazed his skin.

Phuzekhemisi, whose real name is Zibokwakhe Mnyandu, said: “I know the people who did this. We’re close.

“They came to my house on Sunday afternoon and asked me to accompany them. I didn’t suspect anything.

“A short distance from home, I was shocked to see them pulling out their guns.”

He said he always carried his legal gun to protect himself from thugs and had it on him during the incident.

“The suspects forced me to give them my gun. I gave it to them and they shot me in the forehead.

“But the bullet did not do any damage. They ran away with my gun.”

He went to hospital but was later discharged.

“I don’t want to reveal the identity of those people to the newspapers because I’m planning to meet them for answers.

“I want to know why they did what they did. I thank my ancestors for saving my life.”

The maskandi star used to run a taxi business, but said the shooting was not related as he had sold all his taxis.

Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed the incident but needed to verify some of the info.
