Paballo Mavundla said the call saying “You got the part”, took him by surprise.

The 19-year-oldlanded his first major TV gig on Mzansi Magic’s new drama The Herd.

After going to several auditions with no luck, Paballo finally got the nod.

The young man from Meadowlands in Soweto plays Nkosana Mthethwa, the son of businessman Bheki (Sello Maake Ka-Ncube).

Paballo told SunBuzz he did a lot of research about TV’s most memorable characters in order to learn more about acting.

“Being part of a big TV production has always been my dream job,” he said.

“This has made me realise that patience brings its own reward.”

Paballo obtained a bachelor’s degree in dramatic arts at the National School of the Arts in Joburg.

“This is where I learnt more about the industry and how to manage money,”
he said.

Speaking about the character he plays on The Herd, he said: “Nkosana comes from a very rich family.

“The family has everything every child would wish for. The only flaw is that Nkosana is not getting parental love and support in his everyday struggles as a youth.

“My parents allow me to run their business and soon I become a cocaine addict.

“This is when I meet different and wrong people who make me do dodgy business deals.”

Paballo thanked his team from Eye Media Artist agency for their love and support.

  • Catch The Herd on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) on Sundays at 8pm.
