COMEDIAN Pastor Mjosty is known for his hilarious Kwaito Church Service film series.

Now his fans can catch him on SABC 1’s Uzalo.

He made his first appearance on the drama series last week.

The comedian plays the role of Pastor Mdletshe’s neighbour.

Mjosty, whose real name is Majostana Mbhele, said landing a role on Uzalo is an opportunity to climb the ladder of success.

“Some people think my role is small and might question why I am so excited about it.

“But the way I see it, there are no small TV roles.

“I always try to do my best when I have a task to execute.

“This role will give me the exposure I have been always wanted,” said Mjosty.

He said he has always wanted to be a part of the show’s cast because it is based in KZN.

The pastor said he was also drawn in by the fact that it is one of the most popular drama series in South Africa.

“It is always exciting to be part of a production that is created at home.

“I feel at home on the set and my fellow cast members are very supportive.

“Most of them are people I have worked with before.”

He said it is hard to become a successful actor.

“I have tried many times to be cast in big productions.

“It is hard to stand out because there is a lot of talent in this industry.

“The competition is tight.

“There are people who have been to lots of auditions yet still have not got their big break. It is sad, but it also challenges me.”

  • Catch Uzalo at 8.30pm on weekdays.
