JUST last month, businessman Nico Matlala was in the news over rumours that he jumped from one relationship to another.
But over the weekend, Nico silenced his critics by paying lobola for his sweetheart, Lebo Mabe, in Soweto.
Nico – who had snatched Lebo from fashion mogul Shaun Stylist – was earlier engaged to singer and actress KB Motsilanyane. He also dated TV personality, Palesa Madisakwane.
Daily Sun spoke to Nico, who couldn’t hide his joy.
“Lebo is officially mine and I’m happy that I took this step as I was being criticised about our affair,” he said.
The SunTeam learnt that after the lobola negotiations, the couple proceeded to Nico’s new house in Midrand, north of Joburg, where a house-warming party took place.
A source said Nico’s relatives from Polokwane had earlier gathered at Lebo’s house for the negotiations.
“We’re happy for them, especially for him as he had been under a dark cloud over his relationship with Lebo,” said a family member.
Another family member said they couldn’t believe Nico came to pay lobola for Lebo.
“He really loves her and has given their relationship a true identity,” said the family member
“I never thought they would last to this point. All the best to them.”
Lebo refused to comment.
