Acappella music group Mzansi Youth Choir continue to shine abroad.

The group which consist of 41 members recently released a single titled Can’t Take It From Me in May.

Speaking to SunBuzz Babalwa Maqungo, head chorister of Mzansi Youth Choir said: “The song has been doing well and people love it. We are happy that we are able to put smiles on people’s faces with our talent.”

She said they were happy to see American group Major Lazer, reposted their song on their social-media pages.

The group had been getting great reviews and people love their work.

Babalwa said this made them feel like they are living their dreams.

“The song is a mixture of Sepedi and isiZulu languages. It is a blend of isicathamiya, ”she said.

The musician said it was a perfect way for us youth of Soweto to pay tribute to our elders.

“Before the video had reached 1 000 views on the choir’s Instagram platform, Major Lazer had reposted the cover to their platforms, and views shot up to over 35 000 within a couple of hours,” said Babalwa.

 Mzansi Youth choir is made up of teenagers around Joburg.

The group made their name a brand by performing well-known artist’s songs.

They shared stage with with American pop singer Beyoncé and Nigerian superstar D’Banj at the Global Citizen Festival in Joburg in December last year.

“We also shared the stage with Lira on local talent-search programme The Voice South Africa. This was a dream come true for us as young talents,” said Babalwa.
