The annual Sound City MVP Awards Festival took place in Lagos, Nigeria and it is known as the most significant awards show on the continent.

The Supa Mega, AKA, won the Best Hip Hop on the acceptance speech he paid tribute to the late Nelson Mandela and Fela Kuti and gave what the Sound City MVP Awards Festival organizers described as a “stellar performance” during the Hip Hop set on the night.

He was nominated alongside Wiz Kid, Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi and Davido in categories such as Best Male MVP and Best African Artist Of The Year. 

Another star that got an award was the queen of dance floor Busiswa who won Best Female Artist.

She was nominated alongside Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Niniola.

South African artists such as Kwesta, Prince Kaybee, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C and Maphorisa were also nominated in different categories.
