MTHOKOZISI Ndaba’s assault charge was withdrawn from court but he may not be off the hook just yet.
Police said they are conducting a further investigation.
The Idols SA runner-up is accused of assaulting a woman in a flat in Braamfontein, Joburg on 3 November.
The assault charge was provisionally withdrawn at the Hillbrow Magistrates Court pending further investigation.
Neo Tsele (21), who claimed she was assaulted by Mthokozisi, said she wasn’t aware that the charge was dropped.
She thought he was appearing in court yesterday.
She said the withdrawal was a slap in the face.
“I had to walk home bleeding that night and my lips were swollen.
“How could the charge be dropped without me, who laid the charge, knowing about it?
“I will be in a better position to talk about how I feel after the police have briefed me, but I can tell you that I’m not happy.”
Hillbrow police spokesman Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo confirmed that the assault charge against the suspect was provisionally withdrawn.
Mthokozisi was arrested on Friday in Braamfontein.
He was due to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrates Court yesterday.
At the time of the alleged attack on Neo, Zondo told Daily Sun that the police were investigating a case of assault after a woman laid a charge.
Neo shared photos on social media, alleging that Mthokozisi hit her with a vodka bottle and then slammed her into a wall.
