SINGER Monique Bingham wants children from Lebone Village Children’s Centre in the Free State to enjoy Christmas.
Tonight, she will be hosting A Night Under The African Stars with Monique Bingham charity dinner at the Cradle Boutique Hotel in Joburg.
She told SunBuzz she wanted to give back to the community. She said she was trying to use what she had to help poor kids.
In 2014, Monique visited the children’s centre with her friend Kaiser Khoza during the Macufe weekend.
She said: “They take in Aids orphans, from babies to teenagers. The place is striving for self-sufficiency.
“It grows its own food, creates its own housing and has a study facility with computers for the kids but needs all the help it can get.
“The dinner is my extension of Kaiser’s efforts. I tried to raise money in 2014, but made very little.
“This time I wanted to make it easy for people to donate.
“Rather than just asking for cash, we’ll give them a party.
“I’ll perform and let them have a great time while giving back.
“We’re also planning an event during the Christmas week with my brothers, DJs Christos, Fresh, Vinny Da Vinci, Oskido and Ralf Gum.
“If it’s not a gala dinner, it may be something else next year.
“But we will be raising funds for them every year.
“Along with Tebogo and Christos Katsaitis, and owner of Joe’s Butchery Bra Willie, we are helping Kaiser with this gala.
“I will be on stage with my Tembisa brothers Jazzmeloz, Ralf Gum and DJ SoulBee. It will be an intimate performance, hanging out with fans.”
) Tickets cost R650 per person, including a three-course meal, and the show starts at 6pm – and those who want to donate directly can visit www.gofundme.com/monique-bingham-charities
