KING Monada wants to shine for the people of Limpopo and Mzansi!
The Malwedhe hitmaker was nominated at the HiPipo Music Awards to be hosted in Kampala, Uganda on 16 March.
King Monada, whose real name is Steven Kgatla, was nominated for Africa Song of The Year, where he will be up against the likes of Wizkid, Sauti Sol, Diamond Platnumz and Davido.
He was also nominated for Best Song in the southern region and Most Trending Song.
King Monada said: “We received numerous international requests towards the end of last year, so I wasn’t surprised when the nominations were announced.
“But it was also unexpected taking into account that Africa has a lot of talent and it’s difficult to make it.”
He said he was currently busy shooting music videos and growing his music.
He will soon sign an artist to his company.
He added this was the first time he had been nominated outside the country.
King Monada Music and Projects co-owner and manager, Albert Makwela, said: “This is all about recognition of our work. This shows that the company is on the right track.”
Albert said it was a dream come true to travel to Kampala.
“Everything is possible and King Monada will make us proud,” he said.
He added that the music industry had hurdles and could either make or break you.
He said King Monada was not about winning awards as his focus was on entertaining people.
“It’s an honour to be recognised. He loves music and his fans. He is still rooted in rural communities.”
Albert said if they were not at gigs, they were in the studio or exploring other business opportunities outside the music industry.
