Television and radio personality, Melanie Bala has been on a journey of healing for quite some time now.

If you follow her on Instagram you will be aware that this journey has even taken her as far as the Indonesian island of Bali.

Her search for healing and inner peace has actually been on-going for over two years now and most people hadn't even noticed.

Melanie has been trying to piece her life back together after the loss of two men in her life; her father who passed on two years ago and the end of her marriage to Zwai Bala.

She has now chosen to open up to her fans and the rest of Mzansi about all the pain she has been through.

The media personality shared a picture of herself from two years with a very heart-breaking caption on Instagram this past Youth Day.

“What you don’t see is the exhaustion and sadness. My marriage was over, my father had died. I was in therapy, on anti-depressants, barely sleeping and crying every single day,” she begins the post.

She goes on to says that she became very good at hiding her pain, saying that only those close to her knew what was happening.

Melanie questioned why it is that most of us choose to hide our pain in fear of what people would say if we revealed our true state of being.

“Even now, I share this with trepidation because “what will people say” or will some media outlet use it as a story tomorrow?  The pressure to present these perfect lives is insane. Don’t get me wrong: we all love to dress up and slay, and get those likes but that’s not real life. Not for me, not for you, not for anyone,” she said.

She ended of the post by let the youth of Mzansi know that it is okay to not be okay and be open about it.

“It takes time, effort, tears, work, self-care but you’ll get there,” she said.
