Maskandi singer Mlethwa Majola will release a new album at the end of the month.

Popular maskandi musician Mlethwa Majola is an angry man.

He said the SABC has not played any of his music since September.

Majola told Daily Sun he submitted his new album Siyasebenza to Ukhozi FM’s music library but none of his tracks received air play.

“Whenever I ask the station about it, they say they still have to listen to the album.

“When I call the music library, they say the problem is caused by the unavailability of compilers to collect the CD.”

The former Amazulu soccer player said he felt he was being treated like a new artist although he had won many awards.

“I deserve some respect. I have earned my place in this industry.”

He said as a regular Ukhozi listener, he felt sad when he heard artists with smaller followings being played.

Majola said he didn’t believe payola was the cause of the problem as he’s never been asked for a bribe.

But he said his music was played on other stations, including Ikwekwezi, lIgwalagwala, uMhlobo Wenene and Tru FM.

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said for music to be accepted it needed to follow certain criteria.

It was evaluated for quality and couldn’t contain messages of hatred.
