FANS excitedly rushed to shops to buy tickets, but had to leave empty-handed!
On Monday, maskandi fans were ready to buy tickets for the historical #Gcwalisa iMabhida concert, but were told tickets were not yet ready.
Tickets were supposed to start selling on Monday.
Fans then took to social media to express their disappointment.
The concert’s spokesman Mthokozisi Zuma admitted to an issue with information about the concert, which was supposed to be added to the tickets.
“We are aware that many maskandi fans were very excited and flocked to the shops to buy tickets. We are very sorry they could not get them.
“We are busy sorting out the problem and promise that tickets will start selling today,” said Mthokozisi.
The line-up was also supposed to be announced on Monday, but was not.
Providing clarity on this, Mthokozisi said they had been receiving a lot of requests from artists who wished to perform at the concert.
“This delayed the announcement of the line-up because we are considering the artists’ requests. We do not want to make the concert a KZN show, but want to accommodate all maskandi musicians and fans from other provinces.
“This is history waiting to be made. We want this show to be big and put maskandi music on the map,” he said.
#Gcwalisa iMabhida is organised by award-winning maskandi star Khuzani Mpungose.
He said he organised the concert to make history and prove that maskandi music can achieve big things like other genres.
He changed the #Fill Up Moses Mabhida Stadium theme after he allegedly heard from sources that Cassper Nyovest planned to sue him for using #FillUp, which he regards as his concept. Khuzani later changed #FullUp to #Gcwalisa iMabhida.
The concert will be held on 30 March.
