THE weather is getting warmer and the spring season is full swing!
It is nearly time for the Jozi Tese Festival, the one-day event featuring tons of activities ranging from live music, local artisan food market, pop-up bars and a variety of exhibitions including health, fashion and beauty.
As many as 5000 revelers are expected to fill the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens on 30 September and enjoy a “bigger and better” second edition festival featuring a vibrant live music program led by South Africa’s Afro pop sensations Mafikizolo, Lady Zamar, Soweto based house music duo Sai & Ribatone.
They will also be serenaded by Sama award-winning Indie rock band Desmond & the Tutus and SA-based Nigerian guitarist Kunle Ayo.
King of Afro-house DJ Ganyani will then usher in the night the best way he knows how.
After its highly successful inauguration last year, the bustling outdoor lifestyle festival makes its anticipated return to celebrate the city of gold.
A one of its kind festival slowly distinguishing itself through its variety of music styles and most importantly for its investment in emerging bands, revelers will also enjoy an ultimate live music fix from one of Joburg’s hottest new bands, Rubber Duc and the fast rising Pretoria music trio, Encore.
“The 2018 sees us continue to work hard to develop and grow the Jozi Tese offering as a trusted brand in the local annual events calendar,” said festival director Tshepo Riba.
“We are bringing the revelers more entertaining attractions, improved facilities as well as an impressive lineup of musicians guaranteed to make this a day to remember.
“We have no doubt that the broad array of musicians featured this year will offer something for everyone, whether you are into Afro pop, jazz, rock or pop.”
Riba explained the picturesque venue, named after Mzansi’s political icon, will provide the visitors with excellent facilities and tranquil surroundings with beautiful mountain views.
He added: “It’s a sure way to create lasting memories with friends and family, there will be a variety of exhibitors from the hotel industry, automotive and property sectors as well as an exciting selection of leading fashion and beauty brands for both the ladies and gentlemen to explore.
“A monitored kids’ entertainment area complete with carnival rides, games, water sports and much more will be added to the mix. There’ll also be Joburg’s best street food eateries serving up anything from the tasty boerewors roll, bunny chows and traditional treats.”
