Lockdown season 3 promises to thrill.

Mzansi Magic’s gritty, dark and sometimes controversial prison drama, Lockdown, is back with a new season that is bound to shake up Monday evenings this July.

Last season came to a dramatic end with an injured Monde (Zola Nombona) making a run for it with the stolen diamonds, as Maki (Linda Sebezo) and her nemesis, Deborah (Pamela Nomvete) came face to face in an explosive showdown.

Fast forward a couple of months later, Season 3 opens with a jaw dropping cliff-hanger as Beauty’s life is hanging in the balance with her son Njabulo (Mthunzi Ntoyi) spiralling out of control with guilt behind bars.

“We are looking forward to another stellar season of Lockdown. Mzansi Magic’s commitment to authentic storytelling has allowed us to share our stories beyond African borders,” says Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, Reneilwe Sema.

There will be some new faces at the Thabazimbi prison this season, and none more recognisable than former Everybody Hates Chris actress Tichina Arnolds who will play the role of Pauletta Scott, a new inmate at the prison.

Among the new faces is Isibaya’s Thembi Nyandeni who will portray the role of hardcore minister of correctional services Minister Mazibuko and Generations’ Manaka Ranaka who will be playing serial killer Zim Zim.

The star studded list of new faces is completed by Ring of Lies star Dineo Nchabeleng, The Imposter’s Khulu Skenjana and former Generations star Mmabatho Montsho.
