PROMOTER and dancer Larry Nhlane was lashed by Twitter users yesterday for allegedly moering his ex-girlfriend.
Noxieh Cole took to the social media site to share details of the alleged abuse. Nhlane, popularly known as Larryngitis, rose to fame as a member of the Microwave Boys trio, the makers of a popular YouTube series.
From about 1.30am in the morning, Cole revealed details of their relationship. Some of the Tweets read: “So I’ve reached my breaking point and have chosen to come out in the open about some of the things I have had to deal with in this relationship.
“The reason I left Joburg was because he got physical with me this morning. I need him to know he will not treat me like shit and get to act the way he acts.”
Soon after the news broke, Sphakamiso “Sphaka” Ngonyama and Sipho Muchindu, the two other members of the Microwave Boys, announced they would be cutting ties with Nhlane.
Muchindu tweeted: “Larry’s abusive behaviour towards her cannot be tolerated.”
Ngonyama wrote: “I have never condoned abuse and won’t start today. Noxieh, you are brave for coming out and sharing your truth.”
Joburg nightclub Taboo, where Larry promoted and hosted events, announced it would stop working with Nhlane, whose account was soon suspended by Twitter.
When the SunTeam contacted Nhlane for comment, he said he would call back after an hour as he was with his legal team.
When the SunTeam phoned again, a woman who identified herself as Jessica Pucker picked up.
She said: “We are busy with the attorney regarding the matter and we cannot confirm what time we will be done. We are going to draft a press statement about this whole situation.”
