CONTESTANTS from The Intern by David Tlale launched a limited edition underwear range last week.
The show kicked off on SABC3 earlier this year as a 13-episode reality programme about South Africa’s fashion industry, following 12 contestants on their journey to becoming David Tlale’s next assistant designer.
The underwear range launch last Thursday at the Eastgate Mall Jockey store in Ekurhuleni was part of the competition.
It was three months after the brief had gone out to contestants to design garments suitable for a world-famous underwear brand.
Competitors, including fourth-episode winners and the overall season winner, each had their designs launched at the store.
Jockey brand manager Jenna Carter said the task was fun.
She said the interns were tasked with making a garment that would fit in with their brand’s autumn/winter 2018 range.
“The brief to each contestant was that the garments had to be on trend, while supporting the brand values of being both comfortable and high quality.
“The interns produced some fantastic results, with the garments being thoroughly tested by our design team. The next step was to produce a limited edition range to sell at one of our best performing stores.”
Fans were invited to come and view the range as part of the celebration, where they could meet their favourite intern and buy an item from the collection.
“The designs are different to anything we have done before.
“We are so excited to see how our customers respond to this collection,” said Jenna.
