KWAITO singer Mshoza has fallen victim to identity theft on social media.

Yesterday, a Twitter account opened in May with the handle @OfficialMshoza posted: “It’s time to speak out.

“Last year, I got an email from Cassper asking me to give him R100 000. He told me he’d give it back after FU FNB stadium.

“Well, as a good woman, I wanted to help and I sent the R100 000 but since then he’s ignoring my calls and emails. I didn’t want this to go to Twitter.”

The tweet was followed by one that read: “The time when I was going through the pain of abuse, he sent me a WhatsApp text telling me to be strong. A few weeks later, I asked him about my money and he blue-ticked me.”

Cassper Nyovest responded to the tweets: “The easiest way to get South Africa talking. Insert my name and BOOM.”

When the SunTeam contacted her, an angry Mshoza denied she was behind the tweets.

“This is not me and I would never tweet such lies. The last time I was active on Twitter and most of social media was in May.

“When my ex-husband Thuthukani Mvula took my phones and blocked all my cards, he blocked all my social media accounts.”

Mshoza said she wanted to apologise to Cassper for the confusion and said she had a lot of respect for him.

She said she had received complaints that several promoters had been scammed by people who tried to book her.

Cassper could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.
