Gail Mabalane went bald weeks ago and shocked a lot of people and many thought she is just trying out a new hairstyle, but the actor had a lot more going on than just changing her look.
Taking to Instagram, Gail revealed that she is currently going under treatment for Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia which is a chronic and progressive type of scarring alopecia that results in permanent hair loss.
CCCA most commonly starts in the centre of the scalp and, without treatment, expands over time causing an area of baldness and it is mostly common in middle-aged African women.
Gail is currently undergoing treatment and she says that she is happy to say that the treatment is definitely working and her hair is growing back and she will survive winter.
"A few months ago I went to the salon for a routine hair wash. To my shock, after my wash, a big chunk of my hair was GONE!!! ?? After a few weeks of “self medicating”, I decided to consult a dermatologist. CCCA - Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia was the diagnosis. Simply put ... a very common cause of Alopecia or hair loss in black women," she wrote on one part of her post.
