TELEVISION presenting has always been Gabisile Khanyi’s first love.

The young woman from Alberton, Eurhuleni, hosts the music show Afro Rhythms on GauTV every Friday.

She is also a news anchor and reporter at the channel.

She told SunBuzz: “I fell in love with TV presenting at a very young age. I was 10 at the time.

“I was already practising how to be a presenter.

“I’d sing and act at school, and many people would encourage me to attend acting lessons.

“This made me realise I could make it in front of the camera.”

Gabisile said her love of TV was inspired by producer and actor Mandla Ngcongwane, the brains behind the Mzansi Magic series Lockdown.

Mandla also acted on the SABC1 sitcom City Ses’la.

Gabisile said she’d love to work with Mandla one day.

“Mandla’s work is absolutely amazing. I’d like to join his Lockdown cast,” she said.

“I’d also love to work with international brands that support gender-based violence campaigns.”

She said her wish is to own a production company that will not only focus on talent.

“I want young people to first find themselves in the film industry and grow in it.

“They also need to be all about it and fall in love with what they do as producers or directors.” said Gabisile.

She said prayer and trust in the Lord has helped her survive in the industry.

“I always put prayer first. It has helped me realise my TV dreams. I’m also grateful to the Lord for guiding me over the years.”
