FORMER Miss Black South Africa, actress and presenter Michelle Molatlou, has died.
Michelle, who rose to fame in the 1990s, died yesterday morning of cervical cancer.
The mother of two, who had moved to Bloemfontein so her father could take care of her, died at the National District Hospital.
Her family issued this statement: “Michelle fought until the end.
“Even in her last days, she would give words of wisdom to her family and friends about never giving up on life. Even in her darkest hour, she always saw light at the end of the tunnel.
“While we mourn the loss of a wonderful, humble and caring spirit, we also celebrate her remarkable life and hope it serves as an example to young people around the world to work hard to make their dreams come true, to be willing to explore and push the limits and to selflessly serve a cause greater than themselves.”
Last year, Michelle had a small role in SABC1’s Generations: The Legacy.
She also ran a company called Suraline, which organised events, catering and decorating.
Some of her work over the years included presenting SABC2’s Mamepe and acting in productions such as In the Name of Love, Mokgonyana Matswale, Die Wustenrose, Eine Liebe in Afrika and Folge Deinem Herzen.
Her funeral arrangements have not yet been finalised.
Between 2006 and 2014 she was married to businessman Malope Mojapelo.
