ALL Focalistic wants is to become a superstar!

The 21-year-old rapper from Pretoria told SunBuzz he believes he is the next superstar although he hasn’t reached his goal yet.

Focalistic – whose real name is Lethabo Sebetso – raps in Sesotho only.

“Hip hop is like a root. Alternative and Afro-pop styles are the product of hip hop music,” he said.

Focalistic is making a name for himself but said he would not let fame get to his head.

“In my mind, I’ve always been a superstar. I even told my parents that I would become famous and be seen on TV.”

Focalistic has been making music since high school.

“After my father died three years ago, I took rapping seriously. I used it to ease my pain.”

Focalistic admitted he took a gamble by choosing to pursue a career in music instead of going to university.

“I was supposed to go to university but I felt that school was holding me back,” he said.

His big break came in 2016 when he performed at the Homecoming Event in Pretoria.

That same year he won a competition called Artists on the Rise.

Focalistic released an EP on his birthday in May.

His hit single K’shubile has 30 000 hits on SoundCloud.

He later released his second single, Fak’imali, which is number one on YFM’s hip hop hit chart.

Last year he performed at the Vodacom Durban July Handicap and at the OppiKoppi music festival.

He is set to release a music video for the K’shubile track later this month and is currently shooting video for Fak’imali.

Focalistic will release another EP on his birthday on 28 May.

His music is available on SoundCloud and Apple iTunes.
