FISHERMAN has officially jumped ship!
The DJ and producer has set sail for greener pastures, leaving his label Afrotainment for West Ink Records.
The DJ, who was once one of the hottest acts to emerge from KZN and turned every song he touched into gold, is said to have left Afrotainment because he was unhappy under DJ Tira.
DJ Fisherman joined Afrotainment, which was started by DJ Tira and DJ Sox, in 2006. He was responsible for producing most of Afrotainment’s hits, including Umlilo by Big Nuz and Happy Song.
West Ink is owned by Mampintsha of Big Nuz fame, who used to be signed with Afrotainment but left to start his own label.
Fisherman, whose real name is Sifiso Mjoli, last released a track with Afrotainment in 2014 when his single Call Out became a national hit.
He last released a full album in 2014, which was called Evolution, Vol 10.
After reuniting with Mampintsha, Fisherman released a new single Glama, under the new label.
Fisherman wouldn’t comment on why he left Afrotainment but when he was asked why he had not released a song in four years, he said: “I release songs after a long period because I want them to be perfect.”
When the SunTeam contacted DJ Tira, he said: “I don’t want to comment on other people’s business.”
