LOCAL fans of British singer Ed Sheeran are in for a treat.
His debut South African tour is scheduled for next year. Ed will mesmerise his fans at the FNB and Cape Town stadiums on 23 and 27 March.
He recently completed a tour in the United Kingdom, including four sold-out performances at London’s Wembley Stadium. Ed sold over 1 million tickets in the United Kingdom alone, making it one of the biggest tours the region has ever seen.
Earlier this year, Ed was announced as the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry’s best-selling global recording artist of 2017.
The announcement was made after the release of his third studio album ÷ (pronounced Divide).
The album has sold over 15 million copies and included the song Shape of You, the third best-selling single of all time in the UK.
The album also included hit songs such as Castle on the Hill, Galway Girl and Perfect.
Ed was also awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
The award is given to people who made contributions to the arts and science.
Last month Ed won the Songwriter of the Year and Most Performed Work trophies at the Ivor Novello Awards.
So far, he has won five Brit awards, four Ivor Novellos, four Grammys and six Billboard Music awards.
